Killyleagh Wedding Victoria and Hamish

Killyleagh Castle and Dufferin Coaching Inn Wedding Killyleagh.

Belfast based wedding photographer Pure Pictures went to a religious ceremony in South Belfast followed by a reception in Killyleagh.
The bride arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce and walked down the aisle with her father giving her away.

The little flower girls carried heart wands rather than posies that were made by the bride herself.  They followed the service with a 'Afternoon Tea' party in the church hall where the flower girls loved the buns!

Killyleagh castle is a private residence although they allow you to take some images outside the main gate.  Hamish is clearly enjoying his Scottish pride with his kilt and tweed jacket.

Killyleagh harbour has a long walkway with a beautiful view of the sea this is a more traditional photoshoot with classic shots and poses.  The bride was very meek and they did not want any 'kissy shots'.

The evening reception was a full live Scottish ceili band.  The scotch and the Northern Irish troops laughed and danced the night away into the wee hours.  It was a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple.

How to get personality in your wedding

Here at Pure Pictures Belfast based wedding photography we try our best to get your personality running through your images.

Lets face it no-one wants to be standing smiling for 2 hours so here are our tips for making the most of your images without being too much of a poser!

Contemporary album with your own twist?

Remember these simple steps:

1- location location location
, chose carefully most people only have time for one location so when it comes to choosing the destination if you aren't wowed don't go!

2- Keep it small, your friends and family may want to have a nosey while you get your pose on, but if you are easily put off then meet them back at your reception (ps blame the photographer we don't mind!)

3- Bookmark images
, many bridal magazines have plenty of inspirational ideas for photographs ear mark the pages and show your photographer so that you know exactly what you want from your day

4- Use some props
, it may seem silly but its the small details that make the difference in a photograph. They could be anything think umbrellas, ice cream, bubble machine, favourite football hats, your favourite mug, favourite fluffy slippers!

5 - Keep your theme throughout!
If its a simple colour or a full on alice in wonderland day, make sure you tie the invitations table decorations and attire into match.  This is a real way of stamping your personality on the day but still keeping the traditional wedding in place.  I keep some inspiration boards here : INSPIRATION :)

We have been awarded one of the top 5 photographers in Ireland through the wedding journal show reader awards.   I think this is down to the fact we keep the bride and groom in mind on the day.  The more relaxed you both are the easier it will be for you all to have images that you want people to see:)

WEDDING HAIR INSPIRATION

Wedding Hair Ideas
The vintage theme was very much in when I was getting married and I very much wanted my hair up and away from my face and not scraped back, almost messy.

After spending the guts of a week looking and images and not being able to decide what I wanted I would like to pass on my collection of images that have a messy vintage hair theme that is suitable for a wedding.

Please note the photographs aren't mine! and are purely for inspirational purposes!

Making A Story Book Album.

As we are award winning Belfast based wedding photographers. We use only the best storybook albums, handmade Italian Leather albums.  The size varies on the product you chose but a very popular album is the Rubens storybook contemporary 30cm x 30cm coffee book style album.

The large pages have a wow factor and if you have the layflat deluxe version you don't loose an inch of print on the page like you can sometimes with the 'flip' albums.

The bride getting ready for the big day.
It's nice to make a contrast of both colour and black and white.
Because you can also use the full size of the pages 60cm's x 30cm's for one big spread or image it is good for dramatic shots that are long and have a bit of WOW factor on them.  You can also add inserts of smaller photographs if they dont clutter up the page too much and make the most of all your photographs.  Or you can leave it plain with just one full image so that you can have the maximum effect.

Large 30 x 60cm storybook spread with inserts

Large 60cm's x 30cm's spread with only one large image

Digital storybook albums are great for a few reasons.  They let you add as many or as little of the photographs that you like, making it easier to put in all the photographs that you love <3

The Rubens storybook album has a sleek design that I think gives it the edge over the more traditional albums out there.

The Italian leather cover gives it a luxurious traditional wedding feel.  With  deluxe laminated photographs giving it a contemporary interior which sets it apart from the others on the market.  If you are going for a storybook album this is the one you are looking for!

TOP TIPS FOR DESIGNING YOUR STORYBOOK.

*Try and have your opening print a photograph that you love.  This gives it a 'beginning' and first impressions last.

*When designing your album try and place the photographs in the order that they happened. We normally end the album on the first dance photograph or a family shot.

*Give the bride and groom a double page spread each it adds to the atmosphere of the day and lets you put in the smaller details of the day.

*Change the layout until your happy once it goes to print it cant be changed so be fussy.

*Show the proofs to your nearest and dearest.  They will put their 2p's worth in but sometimes it takes a second set of eyes to point out someone you have left out :)

* Take your time, this usually something that goes back and forward a few times before its right so be patient and remember it takes up to 6 weeks from you approve the album.  Remember it comes straight from ITALY!!

Portrait Sitting Helpful Hints!

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
First of all your portrait sitting will last 45mins unless I have specifically stated otherwise.  So if you are asked to arrive at say 2pm please give yourself a few minutes to arrive early get your coat off and try to get familiar with the studio especially if small children are coming down for the first time.

WHAT TO BRING?
If its a family shoot including the parents I would recommend bringing 2 changes of clothing, I normally recommend a white t shirt and jeans shoot as they often work the best with the white backdrop and keep everyone in the same colours.  The second set of clothing just block colour red / blue / black its for photographs with a different backdrop so it  will give you another set up to chose from.
Everyone loves Peppa x

WHAT ABOUT PROPS?
I have a small box of bits and bobs but I must say that children work well when they have their own toys with them.  Feel free to bring what ever you need to get the shot.  I have had people bring bikes and trikes, if they crack a smile when they are on it I really dont mind!

Even a small prop like a flower necklace might be enough to make them smile.

WHERE IS THE STUDIO?
We are based in North Belfast I will have sent you directions to the studio directly, if your stuck email camille@pure-pictures.co.uk

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS NOT WELL?
Just let me know as early as you can so that I can maybe put another family in your slot.  Children get sick all the time so you are better rescheduling than getting portraits taken that you wont like.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A NORMAL SESSION?
We try and take photographs from about 5 different angles on a white and black backdrop so that you get a range of shots to chose from.  Fun is the name of the game so be prepared to get silly and just relax, this will make for better photographs :)  If you have a specific shot that you want you need to let me know in advance I will try my best to make it happen for you.
